A senior’s photos are a priceless glimpse into a time of innocence and wonder of things to come. Amanda simply wanted a few natural looking photos to give to her parents. The photo session was more about them than her, as she is a humble kind of gal. I selected an area of downtown Indianapolis known as Lockerbie. Having lived in the area for a year I knew the location would be perfect for capturing some natural shots of Amanda. After arriving we headed over to the cobblestone street and suddenly photo opportunities were everywhere. Beautiful tulips were in full bloom, old metal fences, plenty of greenery, and the street itself allowed us to dive right in.
Amanda has a natural way about her, making my job all that much easier. We quickly relaxed into the afternoon shooting different poses with the many different backgrounds to choose from.
After a quick outfit change, we headed over to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and stopped along the way for a few shots. The many gardens outside of homes provided beautiful backdrops. The afternoon was overcast which provided nice natural light.
As we neared the end of our photo shoot the sky turned gray and we knew the rain was not far behind. Amanda ran track in high school and her parents were hoping for a photo of her in her letterman jacket. The rain had other plans, as it started to come down I suggested we head back over to the cobblestone street and try for a shot under a tree. It was not the best of the day but at least we managed to stay dry while getting that last shot before the major downpour started, shortly after.
