Travel Thursday – Prairie Dog Town @ Devils Tower

Prairie dogs - Devils Tower

My last Travel Thursday post promised a separate post on these cute little guys, the prairie dogs of Devils Tower.

On our way out of Devils Tower, we had to stop at prairie dog town. This was quite an unexpected treat. There alongside the road is an entire “town” of prairie dogs. Here they have approximately 40 acres to roam, burrow and be their normal social selves. With a nice open viewing area, visitors are sure to see several prairie dogs. I spent almost an hour just watching, photographing and taking in their many different calls. I could have stayed longer but the last bit of our road trip was calling.  Now for the photos of these guys.  Enjoy!

As I near the end of posts related to our 6-week trip Out West during the summer of 2014, I have begun to look ahead for what is in store for Travel Thursdays in 2016. Although I love to travel and have many places on “my list” to visit, travel has been put on hold for now. As we are now enjoying our little slice of peace in the country and we now have a wonderful canine friend to think about. This is not to say Travel Thursday is going away, quite the contrary. I have some trips in my archives of photos that I plan to share, as I go through all of my photographs. (A large project I have been meaning to tackle for awhile). In addition, I hope to get out and explore locally and share those photos as well. I look forward to sharing more of my Travel Thursdays in 2016.
