“The Cafe by the Sea” by Jenny Colgan

This novel was a cozy, feel-good novel. I really enjoyed it. Perfect for a cold snowy night curled up on the couch with a cup of warm tea. The novel is mostly set on a Scottish Island, with a small close-knit group of people living there. Flora the main character has to deal with going back to this island where she grew up for a work project. I identified with her character in a couple of ways. A city girl living in small town nowhere who discovers her love of cooking.

This page-turning novel was like comfort food for my soul. I quickly became attached to the various characters. I blazed through this 384 page novel in a week, love the story and it’s various twists and turns.

If you are looking for an intellectual novel that will challenge your mind, this is not it. However, if you are looking for a nice novel to cozy up to on a cold winter night, this is it.
