“Endurance” by Scott Kelly

Endurance by Scott Kelly

Endurance by Scott Kelly

Read this book!  Tremendous writing by a truly remarkable man.  Scott Kelly spent 342 consecutive days in space onboard the International Space Station.  This book really gives the reader a sense of how hard it is to be an astronaut.  The title captures it all.  I could only imagine how amazing it would be to look at the earth from space.  What an experience!

With the data collected from this amount of time in space, we hope to have a better understanding of what future astronauts will face on a mission to Mars.  With Scott Kelly’s twin brother here on earth, scientists were able to compare the two men and the effect of space on the human body.

Fantastic book for the person like me with a fascination for space.  At 365 pages, the chapters alternate between his past and becoming an astronaut and his time on the International Space Station.  With vivid and humorous storytelling abilities, you will quickly find yourself becoming immersed in the story.

This book makes you really appreciate what these brave men & women go through in order to advance our knowledge of the Cosmos. It is a true testament to the spirit, drive and unrelenting human condition to push ourselves past our comfort zone.

Highly recommended by this space nerd!

  1. Amy. With your interest in space, I highly recommend, “Packing for Mars”…a history of past (and future) challenges for putting humans into space—both technically and anatomically. Great read.
