Two Striking Futuristic Novels

“Future Home of the Living God” by Louise Erdrich (267 pages)

This dystopian page turning novel cuts a little close to our current society. One of monitoring and tracking throughout our daily lives. In the novel it has went further but the similarities are uncanny.

In this futuristic world, evolution has not only stopped but it’s reversing. Leading to a mass round up of all pregnant women.

The novel follows the main character who is pregnant as she tries to elude those after her.

Both thrilling and heart breaking this book is sure to keep you turning the page to find out what will happen next.

“Artemis” by Andy Weir (305 pages)

After reading “The Martian” by the same author, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. It did not disappoint.

The story follows Jazz, a smuggler, living in the first human moon colony. She finds herself wrapped up in quite a mess.

I enjoyed her sassy, don’t give a damn attitude. This author made her character come alive as if she were in the room with you. Definitely my kind of gal to hang with.

The descriptions of the colony on the moon were vivid and lush. I felt as if there were actually a colony on the moon. Complete with hotels, resorts, bars, clubs, living quarters for workers, and its own currency.

The reader will become quickly enveloped in this fast paced novel with twists and turns in ever chapter.

Andy Weir is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. His witty sense of humor, knowledge of all things space and his relaxed laid back writing style makes me antsy for his next novel.
