Earth Day 2020: 50th Anniversary

This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Fifty years and what a year for that anniversary. Now more than ever before we must not only celebrate our beautiful mother earth but do everything humanly possible to protect her and all of her inhabitants.   She is a beautiful gift to us all. Let’s not forget that.

In honor of Earth Day 2020 I went on a photo hike in our forest.  It’s spring time here in the Northern Hemisphere and what a beautiful time for a hike and photography. From the smallest flower to the grandest tree and everything in between, there is much to reflect on.

Take some time out to really notice the world around you. Look for the good around you for this exercise. Notice with all of your senses, be careful with taste. Make sure it’s not poisonous. Listen, see, feel, smell, and if possible taste the world around you. Really notice all of the wonderful things in nature. The small yellow flowers, the old tree that has rotted and given back to mother earth. The blue sky with fluffy white clouds. The bird song on the wind. The smell of earth under your feet. The feel of the gentle breeze and the warm sun on your skin.

One of my favorite trees on the property.  This large bent tree makes me smile everytime I see it.

We have this great pause to take note of the things around us.  Take a moment, a few hours, or the whole day this Earth Day and simply notice.  Appreciate this beautiful planet in all her beauty. For this day focus on the positives.

This section is so lovely with it’s many wild flowers.  I stopped to pick a few for my desk back at the cabin.

Nature has the power to heal us. Make us whole again. Relieve our stresses and tension. It’s magical in a way. Step out and take in a little of what mother nature has to offer.

For those unable to get out in nature, I offer this small gift of photos from my hike in the woods.  A collection from my little corner of the earth.   Enjoy!

Nature found a way to continue growing out of this tree stump.  Now there’s two!

The green is coming back, filling in more every day.

With a few leaves on the tops, more is coming.

I call this one “The Family Portrait of the Forest”.  Everyone stayed in place so nicely for this shot.  🙂

Take care and be safe my fellow earthlings. Happy 50th Earth Day!

*Note:  This is the first time in the last couple of months I used my Nikon D610.  For some reason I’ve had no desire to use my camera.  It felt good to use it again and try out some new editing software.  All of the above photos are my own.  ©amypantone2020
