Current Status – Where is Shamy?
Currently we are parked at Shane’s parent’s house in southern Michigan. The weather has been warmer than we like and the UP is calling. We are leaving here in 4 days and making the trek to our favorite summer time place, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This year we have a treat. Our grandson, the kids, and their two dogs are joining us for a week and a half of camping in the UP. We are very excited to have them along. The RV will be a packed house but oh the fun we will have. I look forward to sharing photos and stories from our summer travels in a later post.
For now I wanted to unveil the new website. It took some effort but I was finally able to transfer the site from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. They are different as I learned. But it looks like most everything came through except for a few comments as far as I can tell. I am working to fix those minor issues. If you click Ralphie Rough Road at the top of this page you will see the new landing page.
UP Bound!!
Last year our UP travels were shorter than normal due to little Ryker’s birth. We picked three amazing spots to enjoy our limited time. One of which took the award for our favorite place to camp in all of our travels over the last 4 years. And we are going back this year! It is such an amazing free spot right on Lake Superior that I cannot fully divulge it’s location. It is very remote and very primitive – port o potties are the only “amenity” you will find here. However, what you will find is a nice stretch of sandy beach with crystal clear water, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. With families returning year after year to create lasting memories of a summer spent on Lake Superior. You will also find yourself in the most relaxed state of mind. Here are a few photos from last year. I had my old phone then, so I will be sharing much better pictures from this year in a later post.

However, this will be the first time in the UP without our beloved Josie. It saddens me to know she will not be there for all of the adventures. She was truly the best travel companion. Love you Josie and we will have a toast to you on the beach of Lake Superior.

Stay tuned for adventures in the UP! Happy Summer everyone! Stay safe and enjoy.
